Our planet is a perfect hiding ground for myriad mysterious things that we could only imagine. Recently, a stunning piece of ancient Roman mosaic was discovered in an Italian vineyard in Negrar di Valpolicella (Comune in Italy) near Verona, which has stunned the officials. Italy never ceases to astonish the world with its golden Roman history and this is just another beautiful example.
As per the statement released by the officials of Negrar di Valpolicella, the mosaic was first discovered more than a 100-year ago and was a part of a Roman villa. The mosaic has been buried deep inside the earth since that time. A series of mosaic floor pictures have been released by officials displaying only a small section, which looks stunning and remarkably well-preserved and colourful.
Negrar di Valpolicella on its official Facebook page wrote, “After countless decades of failed attempts, part of the floor and foundations of the Roman villa located north of Verona, discovered by scholars a century ago, has finally been brought to light”.
It further mentioned that the Italian town will now make sure the floor can be seen by the public. However, they also warned that the result will not come soon and “significant resources will be needed.”
Archaeologists were absolutely stunned with this discovery as the mosaic floor was unearthed almost a century after the Roman villa, which dates back to the 3rd century AD.
As of now, the old and ancient Italian sites in Italy are starting to reopen in a phased manner after a long Coronavirus triggered lockdown. The pandemic has hit Italy hard and has claimed thousands of innocent lives till now.
