Lakers star LeBron James’ ‘expected’ free agency decision after declining $51 million contract
The Los Angeles Lakers will now be forced to work out a new deal with the face of the franchise, as LeBron James will opt out of his current contract, via The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
“Just In: Los Angeles Lakers four-time champion LeBron James intends to opt out of his $51.4 million player option for next season, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium,” Charania tweeted. “The expectation is James will return to the Lakers on a new deal.”
