Do the Golden State Warriors need Klay Thompson?
Klay Thompson will enter unrestricted free agency at 6 pm ET on Sunday (June 30.) The veteran sharpshooter has been the subject of consistent speculation this season, with the rumor mill reaching fever pitch in the final week of June as everybody waits to see what happens with the Bay Area stalwart.
Thompson has helped Golden State Warriors win four championships during his illustrious tenure with the franchise. However, two major knee injuries have sapped some of his upside, and it would appear Golden State is willing to change direction as the front office re-tools the roster around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
In a recent video by The Score, Thompson’s future with the Warriors is explored in greater depth, with the primary question being whether Golden State still needs his movement shooting and wing defense or whether there are better options available to them.
