Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested for driving on an invalid license in Texas last month, court documents have revealed. That arrest came just five months after the father of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was picked up in the same county for allegedly driving drunk.

Court documents show Mahomes Sr. was ticketed for driving on an invalid license around 8:30pm on June 29. TMZ was the first to report the most recent arrest.

The 53-year-old Mahomes was also given a warning for ignoring traffic signs, suggesting he may have been pulled over for a moving violation.

Mahomes Sr. is required to appear before a judge by July 31.

Meanwhile, the former MLB relief pitcher’s DWI trial is slated to begin in Texas later this month.

Mahomes Sr. was officially indicted on DWI charges in Smith County Texas on March 28, according to online court records. The charge is listed as ‘Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More.’

Mahomes Sr. faces a potential 10-year sentence and up to a $10,000 fine.

He was arrested by Tyler (Texas) police on February 3, marking at least the third time he was picked up on a drunk-driving related charge.

He was previously sentenced to 40 days in jail in 2019 after one of his DUI offenses.

The younger Mahomes declined to discuss the arrest with reporters in Las Vegas in the days leading up to his second consecutive Super Bowl victory.

‘It’s a family matter, so I’ll keep it to the family,’ Mahomes told reporters on Super Bowl opening night. ‘That’s all I have to say.’

A divorced father of four, Mahomes Sr. posted a 5.34 ERA over 11 MLB seasons, during which time he was primarily used as a reliever.

Mahomes II inherited his father’s passion for baseball. Not only was he a high school star in Texas, but the reigning Super Bowl MVP is also a minority owner of the Kansas City Royals.

Furthermore, Mahomes Sr.’s former Minnesota Twins teammate, retired reliever LaTroy Hawkins, is Mahomes II’s godfather.

The news comes at a busy time for Mahomes II.

After winning his second straight Super Bowl MVP and third in five years, Mahomes II was named the Best NFL Player and Best Athlete in Men’s Sports at Thursday’s ESPY Awards.

The Kansas City Chiefs poster boy was chosen over Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, San Francisco 49ers and NFL rushing yards leader Christian McCaffrey, and reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens for the league honor.
