Proposed three-team trade lands Lauri Markkanen with Warriors
Markkanen has enjoyed two strong seasons since joining Will Hardy’s team in 2022. During his two years in Salt Lake City, the multi-talented big man is averaging 24.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 39.5% from 3-point range and 49% from the field.
Golden State’s lack of size at the center position was a legitimate flaw in their roster last year. Adding Markkanen would ensure Steve Kerr had legitimate size in the middle of the floor along with a genuine second option on offense.
There aren’t many young talents that can plug multiple roster gaps. Markkanen projects to be an important fit with the Warriors, should they acquire him via trade. As such, he is likely worth the hefty asking price on his shoulders.
