The Kansas City Chiefs will need all hands on deck to complete their three-peat this year. They have invested heavily on offense this offseason to ensure that Patrick Mahomes has enough firepower to get them back to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs have re-signed one of their Super Bowl heroes from this past season.

According to Ari Meirov on X, the Chiefs have re-signed wide receiver Mecole Hardman. Hardman caught the game-winning TD pass in Super Bowl LVIII this February, securing the Chiefs’ second championship in a row. It is reportedly a one-year deal.

Kansas City has struggled to find consistency in its wide receiver room after parting ways with Tyreek Hill two years ago. Bringing back Hardman guarantees that Mahomes has at least one role player at wide receiver who he can trust.

Hardman had a bizarre 2023 season. He left Kansas City in free agency and signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the New York Jets. It never worked out in New York — Aaron Rodgers got hurt and the Jets’ offense struggled mightily without a solid QB. Hardman only caught one pass for six yards before being traded back to the Chiefs in October.

Hardman did not become a starter for the Chiefs after rejoining the team. He played a rotational role and logged 14 passes for 118 yards in the remainder of the regular season. However, Hardman stepped up in the postseason and ultimately delivered a championship to the Chiefs.

Kansas City is betting that Hardman’s familiarity with the offense will be an asset in 2024. Hardman has the opportunity to earn a significant role in this year’s offense, so long as he earns it in training camp and the preseason.

Travis Kelce shares why he was threatened with taser at White House event

If the Chiefs do complete their three-peat, they will earn another trip back to the White House in 2025. That may be a scary proposition for Travis Kelce.

Kelce now has a recurring bit related to approaching the Presidential Podium. In 2023, Kelce jokingly approached the podium and said “My fellow Americans…” before Patrick Mahomes pulled him away.

This year, President Biden and the Secret Service were ready for any of Kelce’s shenanigans.

Biden put his own twist on the tradition by immediately inviting Kelce up to the podium.

“My fellow Americans, it’s nice to see you all yet again. Um, I’m not gonna lie, President Biden, they told me I’d get tased if came up here so I’m gonna go back to my spot, alright?” Kelce said before smiling and shaking Biden’s hand.

Kelce later spoke on his New Heights podcast about the event. He shared on incident where he was threatened with tasers by the Secret Service.

“When I walked in we had about four or five Secret Service members come up to me and tell me you know if you go up to that podium we’re authorized to tase you,” Kelce said on his podcast. “Just when you think you’re being slick.”

Jason Kelce joked that the Secret Service would be completely within their rights to “tase the s—t out of you.”

Thankfully, Travis avoided any tasing and the event went off without a hitch.

We can wait to see what will happen next summer if the Chiefs return to the White House for a third year in a row.
