Chiefs Training Camp: Day 12 observations from August 4

On Sunday morning, the Kansas City Chiefs returned to their field at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph for another practice of the team’s 2024 training camp.

A lighter 10-10-10 session, this was the 12th of 19 public sessions on the practice field next to MWSU’s Spratt Stadium. Six of the remaining practices will be open to the public — click here for details and a full schedule — while one more will be open only to the team’s Season Ticket Members.

Arrowhead Pride lead analyst Ron Kopp was there. Ron posted some observations on social media — starting with the team’s emphasis on misdirection and screens.

Deneric Prince got a chunk of the first-team work.

Meanwhile, Carson Steele got a rep as a fullback.

The Chiefs mostly stuck with three wideouts — but others got reps, too.

The other wideouts played, but didn’t have their numbers called very often.

Unsurprisingly, Mahomes feasted on the second-team defense.

Justin Watson was back at practice.

Notice to the NFL: Rashee Rice is still around — and can still kick your ass.

The former Duke tight end isn’t giving up ground to any other tight end without a fight.

The next practice will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. Arrowhead Time. It will be open to the public. As always, we will have live updates after practice begins. After it concludes, head coach Andy Reid will be speaking with reporters.
