Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Motivated to Win a Super Bowl After Signing Massive Deal

The Dallas Cowboys were one of the few teams that came away as winners in Week 1. Not only did they come away with a victory in Week 1 over the Cleveland Browns on the road, 33-17, but they broke the internet prior to the game.

After question marks of whether or not the Cowboys would pay quarterback Dak Prescott, they shut those talks down in a hurry on Sunday morning. The Cowboys announced that Prescott and the team agreed to a four-year extension worth $240 million with $231 million guaranteed.

The contract makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history.
While that kind of money is enough to make Prescott content, he feels quite the opposite. After the victory, Prescott said that this massive contract only motivated him even more to win a Super Bowl.
“It’s my only motivation,” Prescott said. “Hold up my part of this deal. Just deliver that. That’s my motivation. Right now it’s about celebrating this win tonight. Hell of a win with these guys, excited for this plane ride back with them, but then turning the page tomorrow, getting on to the Saints, and taking it one game at a time. That is what is at the forefront of my mind. Not the money. It’s about holding up my end of the deal. And I want to do it here.”
The Cowboys are in search of their first Super Bowl title since 1995. It’s been a long and rough journey, but they have the pieces on both sides of the ball to get the job done.
Nonetheless, a new year brings new optimism, and the Cowboys will use that to their advantage. So far, they look like a Super Bowl contender as they manhandled a tough Browns team on the road.
Prescott shined in his 2024 debut, completing 19 of 32 passes for 179 yards, a touchdown, and zero turnovers. The 31-year-old is coming off arguably his best season as a pro.
In 2023, he recorded 410 completions (a career-high), threw for 4,516 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, and completed 69.5 percent of his passes. He also finished fifth in AP Offensive of the Year voting, second in MVP voting, second- team All-Pro, and earned another Pro Bowl nod.
The long-time Cowboys quarterback is missing the most crucial trophy of them all, and he won’t stop until he and his team get the job done. It won’t be an easy feat, but Prescott wouldn’t want it any other way.
