DeMar DeRozan reflects on playing with LeBron James in the Drew League

Not everyone has had the opportunity of sharing a court with LeBron James outside the league like DeMar DeRozan. In a recent episode of the Club 520 podcast, DeRozan shared his experience where he played alongside King James in the Drew League during a 2022 game.

DeRozan described the experience as one of his most memorable moments as he expressed his admiration for King James, who shockingly decided to participate in the league, considering his status and long career. For DeRozan, this experience wasn’t just about the game itself but about the broader impact on the community.

Shout out to Bron doing that, you know, he definitely a real one for that because, you know, he hit me and he was like, man, what’s up when you playing in Drew again? I’m like, next week, like come f**k with me. He said, all right, man, I’m gonna come f**k with you. DeMar DeRozan said

The Sacramento Kings’ latest recruit described the game as a memorable experience, according to him, playing with Kobe Bryant in a similar setting trumps that. He believes that playing with LeBron James in the Drew League showed him a different side to the iconic player.

However, these past sentiments would be kept aside as he aims to help his new team compete and be a serious medal contender in the hotly contested Western Conference. The Kings take on the Lakers on the road, on the 26th of October.

DeMar DeRozan reflects on James Harden’s unforgettable 30-point streak

In the same episode of the podcast, DeMar DeRozan also shared his thoughts on the most impressive individual performance he’s witnessed in his 15-year NBA career. His top individual was Philadelphia James Harden , who once upon a time had an incredible 30-point game streak with the Houston Rockets during the 2018-19 season.

The run James [Harden] had… that ain’t even a video game. That s*** was like some f*** Space Jam s***. If you didn’t watch the games, you just knew when you checked the box score it was going to be something crazy. 40, 45 [points], 15 assists, ten rebounds. DeMar DeRozan said

DeRozan marveled at Harden’s consistency, where he scored 30+ points in 32 consecutive games, and averaged 41.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. He expressed his doubt that “we’ll ever see that again,” comparing Harden’s numbers to those of Wilt Chamberlain .

Furthermore, he has witnessed this dominance personally, on two accounts, where Harden dropped 61 and 50 points against DeRozan’s San Antonio Spurs in 2019. Fans might have forgotten how great Harden was due to his recent struggle, but this is a player that earned himself an MVP title.
