“Exploring the Unique Formation of Iran’s Zagros Mountains: A Result of Salt Domes and Glaciers”

In the southern region of the Zagros Mountains, there exist over 130 salt domes that have greatly impacted the structure of the mountain range, making it one of the most significant simple folded systems in the world. In addition to salt domes, there are also various other types of salt formations such as salt caves – including the world’s longest one measuring over 6.4 km in the Namakdan Mountain – salt glaciers, salt valleys, karst sinkholes, and salt springs.
