Klay Thompson’s potential departure has NBA social media going crazy
I’ve been writing a ton of content here at Golden State of Mind grieving the apparently imminent departure of franchise icon Klay Thompson after he has failed to come to terms with the Golden State Warriors for a new contract.
I’m grappling with the fandom emotions of a guy looking to do what’s best for his personal life and family which is absolutely his prerogative, while wondering if there’s anything the Dubs can do to keep the Big 3 of Thompson, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green in tact for the duration of their careers.
I never really imagined a scenario where those three guys wouldn’t remain in Golden State forever; they seemed like they would all ride off into the sunset together after running roughshod over the league.
As of right now, Dub Nation is waiting for the other shoe to drop on the Klay news, but emotions are definitely running high on social.

I know life moves on and it’s just basketball but man the idea of Klay not being a warrior is tough. My favorite warrior of all time. Having a hard time with this one. So grateful for Klay and what he brought to the bay.

Klay Thompson felt “slighted” and “pushed out” to an extent by the Warriors, per @ShamsCharania. The two-sides are expected to work through sign-and-trade options.

RIP Klay-two-to-the-ball bit.
Btw, Klay was the only one on the roster other than Steph who could draw aggressive coverages out of opponents. Not at the same level, but still significant enough to tilt defenses.
If the Dubs can’t replace that with someone who can also draw two…

Say it ain’t so Klay!
