LeBron James’ camp took issue when Stephen Curry was touted as the ‘best player’ in the league, NBA insider says

LeBron James and Steph Curry were once tagged by the media as eternal enemies as their rivalry dominated the league. However, the rivalry took a back seat when they teamed up for the first time in their career on the national team. Unsurprisingly, they were victorious, however, their closeness took a lot of people by surprise.

On an episode of ‘The TK Show,’ NBA insider Sam Amick narrated a story about how LeBron James’ camp developed an animosity toward Steph Curry. The bone of contention was how King James’ camp felt intimidated by reports that Curry’s rise to stardom would affect James’ standing among the NBA community.

Their camps didn’t always love the way that the other player was talked about. LeBron’s people did not love it when people started calling Steph the best player in the world, and there was a tension that was real. Sam Amick on The TK Show

LeBron James had established his dominance both on and off the court, in his attempts to take the mantle as the league’s face. Then there’s Steph Curry, who revolutionized the game with his signature three-point shots, making waves in the league by leading the Warriors to two NBA titles over LBJ’s Purple and Gold.

Currently, the animosity between the two had surprisingly transformed into one filled with admiration and respect. Despite Rich Paul’s efforts to block a trade that could have brought the two future Hall of Famers together, the just-concluded Paris Olympics did a great job in that regard. The two have 4 NBA titles each.

Steph Curry wishes for more experience with league rival, LeBron James

They have played together in various All-Star games. However, it didn’t have the same effect as the one provided when LeBron James and Stephen Curry teamed up to lead the national team to gold in Paris. The chemistry between the two in pressure moments was equally mild-blowing and had the fans impressed.

For Curry, he wants more and he made this known when he spoke to Natasha Dye of the People. He wishes to be granted another opportunity to team up with the Los Angeles Lakers legend despite all their previous battles on the court.

All the battles we’ve had on the court and the back and forth, the fact that we actually got to be teammates, not just in any game like an All-Star Game or whatever, but in high-stakes basketball with a lot on the line… I think there’s a deepened respect and friendship there. Hopefully, there will be more experiences in the future, even if we’re teammates or not. LeBron James to Natasha Dye

Furthermore, he acknowledged that despite his desire to see them suit up together, they still have unfinished business. Fans of both sides would be eager to see how well they bond when they both meet for the first time in the new season with their respective teams.
