Mahomes hints at Taylor Swift’s unlikely role in Kansas City Chiefs’ tactics

Taylor Swift has had a huge impact on the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs, according to superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is dating the pop star’s best friend

Patrick Mahomes has lauded pop star Taylor Swift for her enthusiastic support of boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes revealed that Swift’s involvement with the NFL and the Chiefs has had a significant impact, attributing a surge in support for the team over the past year to her and Kelce’s relationship. He even suggested that her influence may have extended to on-field strategies.

Swift’s keen interest in football has led her to contribute to the Chiefs’ success, according to Mahomes. He said: “She asks a lot of great questions. She’s really interested in football. [Swift] started drawing up plays. We might have to put one in,” he said.

In addition to her influence on the game, Mahomes also praised Swift’s authenticity. “Meeting Taylor, realizing how genuine and cool she is… I think that’s been special to me because she’s like you said, the most famous person in the world, she could not be [genuine],” he added.

He also noted the positive effect of female fans embracing the sport. “I think it’s been cool to see the girls and the women that have really embraced watching football,” he said.

“I know – being a girl dad – how cool it is for me to see these little girls, these daughters and how much they’re loving to spend time with their dad, watching football.”

Mahomes has previously praised Swift for her down-to-earth nature in a chat with Time. The star quarterback, who’s rubbed shoulders with many celebrities, singled out Kelce’s girlfriend as the most grounded he’s met.

“She’s never not working,” he observed. “Even when she’s taking her downtime, she’s working on something. Shooting a music video or singing a song or writing a song. You can see it by how she talks.”

Mahomes also highlighted the pop sensation’s passion and dedication to everything she does, including her newfound interest in NFL, thanks to her relationship with Kelce. “Even when she’s talking about football, when she’s learning it,” Mahomes noted.

“You can see her business mind putting it together. It’s almost like she’s trying to become a coach. ‘Why can’t you try this, this, and this? ‘ She’s asking the right questions.”

The three-time Super Bowl winner acknowledged the significant influence Swift has had on the Chiefs, helping them transition from a “nationwide team that was kind of global to a full global, worldwide team,” according to Mahomes. “That came from Taylor’s fanbase.”

Despite the Kansas City Chiefs being under intense scrutiny, quarterback Mahomes has said that the squad isn’t getting side-tracked, rather, they’re motivated by the spotlight. “We just embraced it,” he revealed.

“We like having that visibility. At the end of the day, football has always been this bruising sport. We want to make it fun, where kids grow up and play football and show their personality and be who they are. This year really magnified that.”

Mahomes, partnering with Travis Kelce, is set to start the new NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens on Friday. The Chiefs have set their sights on claiming their third consecutive Super Bowl title by the close of the season.

Yet, there’s a tinge of concern as they head into the opener following a string of three losses in their preseason games.
