Miami Dolphins Addition That Exceeded Your Expectations

August 27, 2024

My Opinion: the Miami Dolphins' head coaching position is the most desirable opening in the NFL - The Phinsider

This past Saturday evening, with all three of our Miami Dolphins preseason games behind them and the regular season right around the corner, I asked:

So now that you have seen three preseason games, which signings or draft picks surprised you? Which player(s) did you wonder why the team even drafted or signed that you now understand and why? Which, if any, players did you see as nothing more than “camp bodies” that you now believe are either locks to make the team or at least have a very legitimate chance of making the Dolphins or some other NFL team roster for 2024?

Below are some of your answers and thoughts on the question of the day-

Reid305 highlights the solid play of a safety that might be a practice squad target when all is said and done. (Note- I am writing this post before any cuts were made today)

Patrick McMorris would be my choice. When I watched his college tape, I didn’t see anything that inspired confidence in the pick (my least favorite of the draft). But man, seeing him play in the preseason has been a very pleasant surprise. His football IQ far exceeded my expectations. Love his toughness and discipline too. You can tell that he really took to the coaching. I was completely wrong about him!

Dolfriend got at least half of their wish.

That I would want both of our Back-Up QB’s to keep backing up… all the way off the team!

Yarganaught sees Tindall finally living up to having a draft pick spent on him. As for Smith, I think he played well before being injured, but that’s just my two cents.

Fangio’s doghouse… or they were/weren’t NFL caliber… Tindall seems to be making a case for himself to make the team again… Smith hasn’t.

Steveko2 sees Wilson being cut.

Jeff Wilson will be gone.

SlayerNation1 chooses the diminutive wide-out who looks like a Swiss army knife or a football weapon.

Malik – not a close second choice.

Some others shined, Jonnu, Wright, McMorris, Duck.

When you factor number of touches, usage, durability and baller mentality, it is obvious.

Receiving, running, blocking, returning every kick, taking hit after hit.

Malik looks befitting of the 83 jersey, the 6th round makes it an even better story.

Dolfanjoe is happy with an addition at tight end.

What’s great is the possibility’s we now have for a running game ! We now have TEs that can block and so quickly the run could be changed to a pass ! Jonnu Smith is going to be a weapon for us ! Combine him with Julian Hill and teams are not going to have any idea what is coming at them ! O am going with The Free agent Smith ! Going to change our offense and make that running game click even better !

SuperG! has a solid list of guys who have shown up when given a chance.

Malik was a star in preseason, so was Wright. Storm Duck was a standout. Rucci had a good game week 3 he’s at best a practice squad guy. Brooks was awesome and I hope he makes the cut, but not likely now with the injury. As for the WTF list, I gotta go with Snead.

daytonadolfan is also on the Mailk train!

Going with Washington as well!

MiamiSkye is another high on Washington. A guy that I see as a possible replacement for Berrios, no matter how much I love my former Canes.

Washington has been better than I expected and while I thought he may end up buried deep on the depth chart or on the PS, he has proven himself to be more valuable than berrios as a returner.

finfanfromsiam is high on another UDFA that played really well but might be delegated to the PS due to the great depth of the position.

Storm Duck! Didn’t think we needed CB help but looks good.
