Even after winning the gold at the Paris Olympics, sprinter Noah Lyles has been butting heads with various athletes over his world championship claims a few months ago. One of those individuals is Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill, but fans are clapping back at the wide receiver for an absurd challenge he made regarding the matter.

The Dolphins star recently made a bold claim, stating that he could beat Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles in a race. This statement came as a response to the sprinter’s criticism of NBA players declaring themselves world champions when the competition is limited to the United States.

Hill, who was a high school All-American and ran a sub-10-second 100-meter dash in 2013, believes he has the speed to outpace the six-time world champion Lyles. The NFL star said he would not beat Lyles by a large margin, but he is confident in his ability to emerge victorious in a hypothetical matchup.

Lyles, who won the gold medal in the men’s 100-meter race at the 2023 World Athletic Championships, collapsed after the race and was taken off the track in a wheelchair. It was later revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 just days before the event.

Hill’s comments are the latest in a series of pushbacks from American athletes against Lyles’ remarks about world champions. The NFL player believes Lyles should focus on his own sport of track and field before criticizing other sports.

“Tyreek not beating Lyles in a race 😭,” Aaron tweeted.

“i agree, it is horseradish,” Josh Houtz said.

“Own that fraud Tyreek,” hugart_michael posted.

“Beat Lyles in what?…a “10 yard” race…..yeah, maybe…..” Michael Nova expressed.

“Maybe in the 40. Longer distance, no chance of beating Lyles,” Michael J. Babcock explained.

“No, he would not,” Robert T. Ives reacted.

“Tyreek Hill can’t break 10.2 in the 100m,” Jeremy Kasperson shared.

Just recently, Lyles addressed his past criticism of NBA players claiming world champion nstatus. He acknowledged the difficulty of the U.S. basketball team’s gold medal win, but maintained his confidence in their ability to prevail.

While determining the winner between Hill and Lyles is close to impossible at this point in time, the fans’ reaction to the former’s claim said it all. On the other hand, if this race happened, a lot of eyes will be on the Dolphins star to see how he’ll perform against an Olympic sprinter.
