Reggie Miller denies throwing shade at Lakers’ LeBron James with Anthony Edwards praise
The NBA on TNT’s in-studio crew is known for making controversial statements, while broadcaster Reggie Miller can typically be found on the periphery doing his best to avoid saying anything controversial, even about iconic players like the Lakers’ LeBron James. On Tuesday, May 14, host Dan Patrick called out Miller for comments made about Anthony Edwards that seemed, according to Patrick, to throw shade at LeBron James.
Miller responded to Patrick’s comments on whether he was referencing the Lakers star with a message that could become the subject of study for political science majors at college campuses across the country.
Miller and Patrick’s exchange came during leaguewide buzz about how Bronny James performed at the 2024 NBA Combine. The latest update on Bronny possibly teaming up with his famous father on the Lakers or another team was also shared via an update from LeBron’s agent Rich Paul.
Did Miller really intend to take a shot at ‘King James’ with his comments? Hear the audio and decide for yourself.
Miller Clarifies Edwards, Alleged Comments On Lakers’ James
The Dan Patrick Show segment was shared on the podcast’s YouTube channel and showed Patrick speaking with Miller about the alleged Lakers LeBron James comments. Miller appeared miffed that Patrick brought up his original comments, which he shared during a spur-of-the-moment time period during an NBA broadcast recently.
Miller was “possibly taking a shot at LeBron James,” Patrick said, to which Miller replied, “Oh, Come On!” with a tremendous amount of gusto.
The audio includes Miller saying that “we’ve got certain guys in our game that are on a lot of people’s Mount Rushmore that like to deflect and point fingers at others,” adding afterward, “here’s a 22-year-old saying, this is on me, it’s my fault.”
Miller was grilled on his comments during the broadcast to which he responded that he was “taking a shot in general,” adding that he was “trying to give credit and creed” to the young Minnesota superstar Edwards.
Miller played his entire NBA career with the Indiana Pacers and faced the Lakers in the 2000 NBA Finals. The Lakers beat Miller’s Pacers, four games to two.
Fans React to Miller’s Alleged LeBron James Comments
Fans reacted to the Miller-Patrick exchange on YouTube taking aim at both Miller and James.
“Reggie too scared to own what he said lmao,” one fan said. “If you feel the way you feel then say it with your chest.”
“LeChoke never takes the blame for his many failures,” another fan added.
“Reggie lying through his teeth,” still another fan added, seeming to believe Patrick’s take that Miller was in fact referencing the Lakers’ LeBron James with his comments.
In the meantime, the Lakers franchise is busy conducting a coaching search that is believed to include JJ Redick as the front runner.
