Shocking Revelation: Are the Pyramids of Giza Older than the Pharaohs by Thousands of Years?

August 30, 2024

The Giza Plateau is the place where the oldest and most mysterious structures are located. Along with the Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre, there are 8 smaller pyramid remains nearby. Since the beginning of research on the pyramids of Giza, there has always been some doubt about the version that says that they were built in the IV dynasty (2600 BC).

Many archaeologists have believed in the theory that the Egyptian pyramids were built by ancient workers with simple tools and technologies, but they have always doubted this theory. The reason for doubting this theory is not only the impressive size of the pyramids themselves, but also the complexity of their design.

Firstly, the shape of the pyramids and other structures built near them, including the House of Eternity and the Mastabas, have no similarity. Secondly, it is impossible to manually move these 200-ton stone blocks to such a height. Thirdly, there is almost no space between the facing blocks of the pyramids. It is an incredible job even today.

Many different versions have since been proposed about the construction of the pyramids of Giza by the ancient Egyptians, but doubts remain about their validity.

Geologist John Anthony West and Professor of Natural Sciences Robert M. Schoch concluded that the erosion of the Great Sphinx was not the result of the influence of wind, but of water, and that it occurred thousands of years before the appearance of the pharaohs who created the Old Kingdom.

It was assumed that the water erosion of the Sphinx could have been due to the flooding of the Nile, but according to Schoch, if that was the reason, then “floods would have undermined the monument from its base. Instead, the most severe erosion appears at the top of the Sphinx and on the walls enclosing it. This pattern is more consistent with rain from above, rather than flood waters from below.”

By the time of the pharaohs, the Egyptian climate was already dry and rainfall could have stopped thousands of years ago. Some researchers believe that the original limestone used to build the Sphinx degraded quickly, but this is not possible, as otherwise the structure would have disappeared 500 years ago. In the end, many professional geologists supported the version put forward by West and Shoch.

Egyptologist Selim Hassan wrote in his book “The Sphinx, Its History in the Light of Recent Excavations” the following:

“If we were to believe his inscriptions, we should have to credit Khufu with repairing the Sphinx, apparently after it had been damaged by lightning. There may indeed be some truth in this story, for the tail of the Sphinx’s nemes headdress is certainly missing, and it is not a part which, owing to its shape and position, could easily be broken off, except by a direct blow from some heavy object, delivered with terrible force. Indeed, one can see on the back of the Sphinx the scar of this break, and traces of the ancient mortar with which it was repaired. This scar measures about 4 metres, which agrees with the measurements recorded on the stele; the additional 30 cm of damage may easily have been done in the final destruction of the nemes tail. It is therefore perhaps probable that the Sphinx was struck by lightning, but there is not a particle of evidence to show that this accident occurred during Khufu’s reign.”

The two temples located directly in front of the Sphinx were also built long before the first pharaohs. This is also indicated by the drain on the western wall of the Granite Temple. Why would the pharaohs need a drain in the hot, dry climate of Egypt on the Giza plateau?

This indicates that the temple was built at a time when there was a problem with the drainage of rainwater. Therefore, geologists concluded that both the temples and the main pyramids were not built during the IV dynasty, but thousands of years before the pharaohs.
