Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter lit up the field in the Buffaloes’ victory over North Dakota State, drawing the attention of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
The entire country watched Colorado’s season opener, and North Dakota State, a dominant force at the FCS level with nine national championships since 2011, was expected to put up a tough fight.
The Bison did exactly that. However, the Buffaloes came out on top with a 31-26 victory. Hunter was the star of the show, hauling in seven receptions for 132 yards and three touchdowns, all while locking down the defense at cornerback.
Hill, a Super Bowl champ and recently voted the NFL’s No. 1 player by his peers, took notice. Known for his incredible speed and elite receiving skills, Hill knows talent at that position when he sees it.
While it’s unlikely for an NFL team to select a receiver or cornerback with the first overall pick, Hill made his thoughts clear on X that it shouldn’t matter in next April’s upcoming draft. In his eyes, Hunter deserves to be the No. 1 pick.
“Whoever got that first pick, idc if you need a Lineman or QB Travis Hunter is one of one,” he said.

Hunter is currently in his junior season after transferring from Jackson State University. He made the move alongside head coach Deion Sanders and Sanders’ two sons, Shedeur and Shilo. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado’s quarterback, is also expected to be a top-five draft choice in 2025.
He had initially committed to Florida State out of high school as a five-star recruit and the country’s No. 1 player. However, he surprised everyone when he flipped his commitment to Jackson State.
In his first two seasons, he combined 75 receptions for 911 yards and nine touchdowns. Additionally, he had 50 tackles and five interceptions.
Hunter and the Buffaloes will be in Lincoln next Saturday, September 7 to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
