What’s Cowboys Loss Mean to Stephen A. Smith NFL Top-5 Rankings?

Stephen A. Smith reveals what will shut him up about Dak Prescott
The Dallas Cowboys endured a crushing 44-19 defeat to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, a result that not only highlighted the Cowboys’ struggles but also helped propel the Saints into Stephen A. Smith’s NFL Top 5 Power Rankings.
Smith, during the September 17 episode of First Take, highlighted the Saints’ dominant performance.
“I already explained this earlier.” said Smith “Dropping 44 on the Dallas Cowboys, running roughshod over people.”
The Saints’ commanding victory vaulted them to the No. 3 spot on Smith’s list, behind only the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.
New Orleans took control early, racking up 35 points in the first half, thanks in large part to Alvin Kamara’s 115 rushing yards and three total touchdowns. Quarterback Derek Carr picked apart the Cowboys’ defense with efficient passing while Kamara ran through Dallas’ defensive front. The Cowboys, who had started the season strong, had no answers, particularly on third down, where they allowed the Saints to convert easily.
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense had moments of success, including a 65-yard touchdown connection with CeeDee Lamb, but New Orleans’ defense quickly adjusted. The Saints neutralized Lamb in the second half and limited Dallas to just 68 rushing yards, forcing the offense to rely on Prescott’s arm with limited success.

We’re not sure Stephen A.’s “rankings” are to be taken seriously; we strongly doubt he even watched the games involving the teams he’s talking about. But…
The defeat leaves Dallas with plenty of questions heading into Week 3, as they prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens. Linebacker Eric Kendricks summed up the team’s sentiment, calling the loss “humbling,” while Dak Prescott pointed to the need for improvement in the red zone and third-down efficiency to avoid similar outcomes in the future.
Get those things right this week against the Ravens and the “rankings” that matter- the NFL standings – will properly reflect who’s who in the NFL.
